今年もやってきた、ジダール・フェスティバル
The Jidar Street Art Festival is back again this year! Last year’s Jidar happened shortly after moving here, and, thanks to Jidar (which means, “Wall”), we not only enjoyed street art but also learned the names and locations of various districts in Rabat.
今年もやってきました、Jidar Street Art Festival. 去年は、引っ越してきてすぐの時期、このジダール（壁、と言う意味）のおかげで、ストリート·アートを楽しむだけではなく、いろいろな地区の名前と場所を覚えることができました。
This year, the 11th edition, there were no artists from Japan, but it was still very international; artists from Spain, Italy, Russia, South Africa, etc., in addition to the local Moroccan talents were all welcomed and new murals were painted in 14 different locations throughout our beloved Rabat.
１１回目を迎える今年は、日本のアーティストさんはいなかったけれど、スペインやポルトガル、ロシアや南アフリカからの方を迎えて、１４ヶ所に新しい壁の絵が描かれました。
We took a stroll around and visited most of them. We enjoyed our walk & cafe time as well. I would like to mention a few of the murals which I think are absolutely inspiring!
お散歩がてら、カフェでお茶などしつつ新作の壁画をみにいきました。その中で気になった作品をいくつかご紹介したいと思います。
First, this is a work by Malina Capdevila from Spain. It was still a work in progress when we visited, but I really liked these unique, rounded figures and the playful expression of the aunty! She looks a bit mischievous, yet full of life – she could be my role model 🙂
こちらはスペインのMalina Capdevilaさんの作品。まだ途中だったのですが、この独特な丸みある構図と、遊び感覚たっぷりなおばちゃんの表情がたまりません！私もこういう表情のできるおばちゃんになりたいです。
Another artist from Spain, Guillem Font creates something very natural to the next level, with his signature black and white colors. Looks simple, yet complicated, its composition is definitely a masterpiece. I guess that people with a fear of heights probably aren’t suited to being mural artists.
スペインからもうひと方、Guillem Fontさん。白黒の中にイキイキと描かれる自然を重視したデザインがすてき。よーく見ると、なかなか手の込んだ構図なんです。高所恐怖症の人は、壁画アーティストには向いていない、というのもわかりました
This bright, shiny red color! And the passionate sun and moon together showing the warmth of the earth. From Ecuador, Azpeger seems to know how his mural can get attention from everyone. So dynamic but also so delicate. This really made me feel as if I was being protected by the beam coming from the wall.
この真っ赤な色！そして情熱いっぱいの太陽と月！エクアドルから参加のAzpegerさんの壁画は、一瞬にして私のハートをバクバクさせてくれました。ダイナミックかつ繊細な構図、壁からでている何か、ビームのようなものに守られているような気持ちになる、不思議な作品でした。
Such a cute name, MizMiz, is from Morocco. And, the wall was incredibly cute, too! This mural delights passersby with a graphic art-like feel, and it’s just simply fun to look at. Filled with sweet, delicious oranges, which are abundant in Morocco – it’s a design that brings smiles to people’s faces (also makes us want to drink fresh orange juice).
モロッコを代表するMizMizさん。名前もかわいいけど、絵もすっごくかわいい！グラフィックアートのような感覚で道ゆく人を楽しませてくれる絵です。モロッコでたくさん収穫できる甘くて美味しいオレンジがいっぱいで、笑顔が生まれるデザイン。オレンジジュースが飲みたくなるかも、、、。
This art with a surprisingly profound composition by Iramo, also from Morocco. I think it beautifully represents contemporary Moroccan culture, its diversity, and its identity across the entire wall. This mural, located above a gas station near the busy Medina, coexists wonderfully with a soundtrack of Darija, French, English, Spanish, and some other languages which I don’t recognize.
なかなか深い構図のこの作品は、モロッコ出身のIramoさんによるもの。現代のモロッコの文化、多様性、アイデンティティなどを壁いっぱいに表していますよね。こちらの壁画は、忙しいメディーナ近くのガソリンスタンドの上に製作されたのですが、周りから聞こえてくるフランス語／ダリジャ語／英語／スペイン語／なんだかわからない語、、、というサウンドトラックと上手に共存していました。
Jumu Monster, from Peru and Chile, made a truly eye-catching work with vibrant colors and powerful composition. Just standing near this mural seems to radiate some cool energy… Look at these fishes! It’s so beautiful, that I had to take a close-up. The artist’s name is “Monster” but I’d really enjoy getting to know this kind of monster.
ペルー＆チリから参加のJumu Monsterさん、このあざやかな色の作品は本当に目をひきます。この壁画のそばにいくだけで、何かパワフルなエナジーをいただけるような。みてください、このお魚さんたち！あまりに素敵なので、ついアップで。モンスターってお名前ですが、こんな怪獣だったらお会いしたいですぅ。
So, again, we really enjoyed Jidar Street Art Festival. I am definitely looking forward to next year!
というわけで、今年もたっぷりと楽しませていただいたジダール。来年も楽しみです！
