アグダルが変わっていくようです
I recently noticed something different while walking around our neighborhood. “Huh? Where are the store signs?” Once I noticed a few of them, I cannot stop noticing more and more – oh my goodness, so many signs have been removed! It seemed a bit excessive for a “summer cleaning”, doesn’t it?
最近、街を歩いていて気づいた事。「あれ？お店の看板がない。。。」一回気づいてしまうと、あら大変、どこもかしこも、今まであった看板が取り外しされているではないですか！＜夏場の大掃除＞にしては、看板まで取っちゃうなんてちょっとやりすぎです。よく見渡してみると残された看板の方が少ないくらいで、ちょっと心配に。
Also, the terrace seating areas of local cafés have been significantly “down-sized” or “renovated”; some of the awnings are gone, replaced by parasols, and the tables and chairs don’t stick out to the sidewalks.
そして、地元のカフェのテラス席部分も、かなーり綺麗になっておりまして、今まで突き出していたようなテント部分がなくなって、パラソル仕立てになっていたり。
Even our Hanout, which used to have many cases of vegetables and fruits in front of the shop, noe sells everything “inside.” So, overall, the sidewalks have been widened, making it easier to walk, or easier for people with wheelchairs to maneuver.
お野菜や果物のケースがたんまりと並んでいたハヌートも、今では全てのものを「店内」で売るようになってきました。という事で、全体的に歩道の幅が広がりまして、歩きやすくなった事はなったんです。
But, it really happened suddenly! Pourquoi? Alesh? A little research revealed that the local government has stepped in. Apparently, the Rabat City Council has implemented various regulations to improve the landscape and ensure the pedestrian space. For example, signs that don’t follow the regulations in terms of type, size, or placement are now subject to removal. They also check if sunshade tents or display shelves are too large and obstruct pedestrian traffic.
でも急に！ちょっと調べたところ、自治体の力が入ったようです。景観改善と通行者用スペースの確保のため、ラバト市議会の手によりいろいろ規制されるようになった、との事。たとえば、看板の種類やサイズ、設置位置が不法だった場合は撤去の対象に。日よけのテントや商品陳列棚が大きすぎて歩行者の妨げになる場合もチェック入ります。
I guess, Starbucks signs are okay as they are: but not Krispy Kreme…
スタバの看板はそのままで良くて、クリスピークリームはダメ、だったんですねぇ。
These kinds of regulatory campaigns are definitely underway. No wonder the streets looked different, a bit featureless. But, I guess, we will see more aesthetically pleasing, welcoming, and beatifying signs – I hope, Inshallah.
こういった規制キャンペーンがじわじわと動いていたわけです。それで、看板がない、のっぺらぼうな街になってたんですね。という事は、これからはもっと美観を大切にしたデザインのあるお店が並ぶのでしょうか、、、？
